All About Me

Born in Detroit, I grew up in a small Michigan town with a turn-of-the-century junior high school, an old brick library, a quaint three-block downtown and a park complete with a band shell. In those days, it was possible to walk downtown with your friends to the old Bohm Theatre then afterwards stop in at Sullivan's for a cherry coke, without being shot at or mugged.
After graduating from High School, my parents moved to Illinois and I attended North Central College, receiving a 4-year B.A. majoring in Music and Theatre. It was there that I developed my love of writing. Upon graduation, I worked in a music store while learning the art of piano tuning and repair.
In the late 70's, I set off for California, ending up in Santa Barbara in another music store. After perfecting my tuning skills, I quit my store job less than a year later and entered the scary world of the self-employed. Throwing the hectic California lifestyle aside, I moved to Hamilton, Montana, arriving the same day St. Helens erupted.
Two years later, married with a small son, I took a mail-order children's writing course and was published before even completing it. Articles were published in two different magazines and I sold another story to Highlights. Another internet writing course convinced me to begin writing a novel. An unusual dream about a dog wedding sparked "Blind Sided" which was completed about a year later.
After relocating with my new husband and second son in Northern California, I received an agent contract with the Lee Shore Agency who connected me with SterlingHouse Publisher. I reside in California with my husband and young son. My older son is currently serving in the Navy and is stationed here in California too. Owner of Allegro Piano Service, I tune and repair pianos. In my spare time, I play tennis, and enjoy judo, sailing, baseball, and playing with my two dogs and two cats. Just moved back to Hamilton, Montana in October of 2020 where I used to live 20 years ago! Good to be home!
