Tasting The Wind (Searching for Gustave Whitehead)
Gustave Whitehead reportedly flew his aeroplane, No. 26, two years before the Wright Brothers' 1903 flight, but few people know about him and his accomplishments in the aeronautic field. Information on him is difficult to locate, due to the fact that there are no available photos of him and his plane in flight. Not to say there were none---just missing photos, probably in someone's attic box today.
This novel, set in 1978, a midst racial and other prejudices of the time, tells of a young woman who sets out to find information about this Whitehead fellow and his fantastic flights. She bumps into problems when a large, well-known museum that tries to block her research efforts.
Although this book is a fiction novel, the background events concerning Gustave Whitehead, his planes and engines, are as accurate as I can find. Today, in Connecticut, he is touted as "The Father of Aviation," much to the dismay of Wright Brothers advocates. The controversy of those first flights still rages today. Hopefully this fiction novel will enlighten as well as entertain readers who remember those turbulent 70's and those who have only heard of them in history books. It is my opinion that Gustave Whitehead deserves much more recognition for his engine inventions and other aviation feats than he has received to date.
I hope to have this manuscript out in either e-book form or regular paperback by early 2012.

Taken (a sequel to A Rat Among Us)
Currently, I am in the process of writing another Doug Thomlinson novel. The above title is merely a working title, so as soon as I complete the manuscript and decide on a more appropriate title, this one will have to suffice.
This novel is again set in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana, in the town of Hamilton. Having lived in this small, quiet place in south-western Montana, it hold a special place in my heart. But don't let that fool you---this novel hopes to make you squirm and feel uneasy as it unfolds a story of terror and treachery.

Short Stories
As most of you know, who have read my blogs in the past, I also write short stories. Even though they are called "short" stories, they all tend to be over 2500 words and many of them border on being novelettes. I am especially partial to endings with cliff-hangers, so in my blogs I divided the stories into "parts" with each part ending with a cliff-hanger. I have been toying with publishing these stories in book form and probably e-book form. Please let me know if this would be something you might be interested in buying in e-book form. If there is enough demand, I shall make them available.
